The Glitch Mob - “We Can Make the World Stop”
Alongside more of their signature synth, this trio known for some TRON remixes and plenty of buzz online delivers warmed-up beats run through a garbage disposal that was already filled with piano and guitar. An anthemic war march on writer’s block, coding, painting, or fixing the garbage disposal.
The Glitch Mob - “Bad Wings”
The Glitch Mob were presented to me as “instrumental hip-hop,” which seems almost like a contradiction of terms, though I can sort of see the resemblance. “Bad Wings,” along with the rest of the Drink The Sea album, is a slice of highly dramatic, electronic beatmaking and experimentation. Lots of synthy, fuzzed instruments that sound like they could be part of the soundtrack to something like TRON, or the backing track for a rapper on a mission to Mars.
Listening to Drink The Sea, you get the sense of a Phantom of the Opera type figure hunched over a mixing console that stretches into the sky.
